This vacancy is open to current employees of the federal Judiciary and/or applicants who live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan commuting area.
The Records Section provides nationwide records management technical guidance, policy analysis/development, and operations support. The Records Section administers the Judiciary Records Management program which provides coordination, clearance, and submission of records to the National Archives and Records Administration (ARA), schedules records in judiciary systems currently lacking disposition authority, monitors the cost and nationwide use of Federal Records Centers' services performs cyclical records assessments, and monitors technology, best practices, and statutory changes pertaining to the discipline of records management. The incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Developing specifications for digital conversion projects. This include paper analysis, quality control protocol, and sampling strategies among other factors.
2. Independently managing space reduction projects from initial phase to closure.
3. Serving as lead records management policy researcher which include the coordination and development of recommendations for AO and court-related guidance.
4. Monitoring contractor performance, tracking technical issues and productivity. Serving as technical advisor and liaison between court management staff and contractors.
5. Coordinating, tracking, and processing updates to the AO's Records Disposition Schedules through engagement with pertinent stakeholders and the use of the Guidance Blue Folder (GBF) system.
6. Directing interaction with upper management staff for analysis and design of special project assignments.
7. Participating as subject matter expert at a variety of training events such as Court Operational Forums and Court Unit Executive presentations.
8. Performing nationwide records and information management assessments that identify and document the categories of records and information life-cycle requirements within a particular judiciary component.
9. Providing technical records management support to appellate, district, and bankruptcy courts, courts of special jurisdiction, as well as other judiciary constituents such as federal probation, pre-trial, defenders, and bankruptcy administrators.
10.Working with court staff and Federal Records Centers representatives to apply recently approved records disposition schedules retroactively; ensuring that concurrence documentation is in place; and tracking the progress of each transaction throughout the clearance process.
11. Perform other records and information management duties, as assigned.
