    This position is part of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Comptroller. The STAFF ACCOUNTANT, assigned to the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (USD(C)/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Department of Defense (DoD), which is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned by Title 10, United States Code, section 135. USD(C) also is responsible for ensuring that the utmost economy and efficiency is applied to the acquisition programs of the Department.

    As a STAFF ACCOUNTANT, GS-0510-13/14/15, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

    • Prepare the Department's required financial reports, including the annual Agency Financial Report and Summary of Performance and Financial Information.
    • Identify, develop, and negotiate necessary changes to DoD and external policies and regulations impacting DoD financial reporting and financial management policies.
    • Develop, promulgate and interpret Federal and DoD-wide policies related to financial reporting, and financial management.
    • Develop oral and written presentations, for delivery to higher level officials.
    • Review, study and develop positions for consideration by senior DoD officials.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
