As a Park Ranger (Interpretation), you will: provide support to the Education Program focusing on programs designed for varied, multi-sensory, age-specific audiences, including urban and rural students (K-12); conduct research of topics for the purpose of providing curriculum-based environmental education programs and publications regarding program scheduling; and collaborate within and outside the agency to schedule programs, make logistical arrangements and site reservations.
"In employing individuals to perform any construction, maintenance, interpretation, or other service in the park, the Secretary (Selecting Official) shall, in so far as practical, give first preference to qualified members of the Tribe": (Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, Nov 2000). To receive current preference eligibility, members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe must submit a copy (not the original) of the letter certifying their tribal membership.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions: The work involves extensive periods of standing and walking, in some cases over rough surfaces or inclines, carrying backpacks, tools, equipment, etc. The work is primarily performed in classroom settings and in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, e.g., high or low temperatures, confined spaces or adverse weather conditions.
