    Summary

    The Management Operations Directorate, Facilities Management Division, Facilities Management Branch (Code 228) in Wallops, is seeking a highly skilled individual to serve as an Architect. As an Architect you will be responsible for the design and project management of Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) facilities.

    Responsibilities

    The duties described below are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments
    will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

    As an Architect, you will perform architectural project management duties involving a variety of facilities, structures, or equipment systems performing various functions. Coordinate the efforts of multi-discipline teams in the design and construction phases of projects. Assess project progress and maintain liaison between the various activities involved in the assignment. Investigate alternatives when program changes or architectural compromises must be made. Serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), guiding and evaluating contractor efforts and assessing technical progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allotted. Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy. Report progress and/or problems to the Contracting Officer.

    You will evaluate design objectives and employs innovative approaches to meet project needs and requirements. Work complexities require not only adaptation or modification of precedents, but also a versatile and creative approach to solve problems where serious conflicts exist between management requirements and architecture principles. You will plan specific objectives, milestones, and phases for complex projects, and makes needed innovations and modifications. Prepare detailed project scopes and cost estimates for use in obtaining project approval by management.

    You will plan and conduct studies and investigations that require the innovative application of complex analysis procedures. Collaborate with managers, other architects, and/or contractor personnel, and provide advice and insight on the resolution of unique and/or complex architecture problems, where innovative adaptations or development of new features is required.
