As a Student Trainee (Information Technology), you will work alternate periods of full-time study and full-time work. Assignments are aimed at developing your skills and knowledge to perform progressively more difficult assignment within the Information Technology field involving similar situations and challenges. This is an Excepted Appointment NTE 1 year. Excepted Appointment may be extended beyond the NTE 1 year and/or may be converted to an intern position without the NTE date with option to convert 120 days to a term or permanent position following completion of degree requirements.

The GS-05 salary range starts at $37,113.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have completed four full academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. NOTE: A full academic year of undergraduate education is defined as the number of credit hours determined by the college, university or school to represent 1 year of full-time study.
Qualifying educational institutions/programs for Pathways include: a high school/GED whose curriculum has been approved by a state or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum; and any accredited technical or vocational school, 2- or 4-year college or university, a graduate or professional school, or a post-secondary home-school curriculum. Applicants may refer to the U.S. Department of Education’s Institutional Accreditation System to determine whether their school/program is accredited: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx. A post-secondary certificate program must have been completed at a qualifying educational institution equivalent to at least 4 academic years of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.
