At the full performance level, this position serves as DSW Environment’s sole biologist establishing schedules and implementing biological programs by preparing, evaluating, and conducting assessments of proposed WAPA projects to ensure compliance with the MBTA, BGEPA, and Section 7 of the ESA. Also, this position reviews biological language to support compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). In addition, this position communicates, clarifies, and presents WAPA’s biological policies, including the Avian Protection Plan and serves as a Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative. Performance requires fieldwork in extreme hot and cold temperatures, severe weather conditions in difficult terrain, and in habitat occupied by venomous snakes and biting insects.

Basic Requirements:
1. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in an accredited college or university that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR 2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as show in in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
