The Director of the Office of Science Coordination and Policy (OSCP) is a key leadership position in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP). The Office of Science Coordination and Policy has approximately 20 employees with a Director and Deputy and a budget of approximately $9 million. The Director provides leadership and direction for all activities assigned to the Office. The OSCP is responsible to the Assistant Administrator for Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention for the management, coordination, and oversight of planning, implementing, and evaluating all major science and science policy issues and activities. Functions include the development and implementation of the Agency’s Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program as mandated by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 and the 1996 amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act; management of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Scientific Advisory Panel in accordance with FIFRA and the Federal Advisory Committee Act; and coordination on complex, emerging science and science policy issues pertaining to chemical safety and pollution prevention in support of programs under FIFRA, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) and other statutes.
Specific duties include:
If you are selected, you must complete a 1-year SES probationary period, if not previously completed.
The Ethics in Government Act, P.L. 95-521, requires the applicant selected for this position to submit a financial disclosure statement, OGE-278, prior to assuming the SES position, annually, and upon termination of employment.
This position is designated as High Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
If you are selected, travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid by EPA. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting to work in this position will be your responsibility.
Position has portable work and selectee may be authorized to telework after meeting eligibility requirements if approved by the supervisor/manager.

TQ 1 - Demonstrated experience in managing and directing a diverse organization consisting of technical and policy staff in various disciplines, as well as staff in other occupations, to support regulatory programs.
TQ 2 - Demonstrated experience communicating complex and politically sensitive environmental policy issues to higher management and externally.
