The Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Procedures directs the day-to-day functions of Compensation Service's Policy and Procedures staff and the Pre-Discharge and Interagency Staff. These staffs are responsible for the development, recommendation, and implementation of the policies and procedures which govern how disability compensation claim determinations are formulated. The incumbent has responsibility for the full spectrum of personnel management activities. Provides guidance to professional, technical, and administrative personnel of the staffs through high-level civilian supervisory personnel (typically at the GS-15 levels). Compensation Service is staffed with 319 employees, with responsibility for benefit programs amounting to nearly $67 billion dollars. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
