The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing also helps ensure consumers can access housing counseling and provides affordable rental housing through its Multifamily housing program. The DAS for Finance and Budget is responsible for the integrity of all Housing-FHA accounting records, the preparation of timely and accurate financial and management reports on all FHA activities. This position is located in the DAS for Finance and Budget’s Office of Financial Services. This Office’s primary responsibilities include providing training and customer assistance to thousands of FHA-approved mortgagees; annually billing and collecting billions of dollars of mortgage insurance premiums from mortgagees; maintaining the financial records for millions of active and terminated FHA-insured loans; and annually paying billions of dollars in claims for insurance benefits to mortgagees.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Conducts HUD wide financial management studies and analyses of operations and systems.
-Determines and recommends systems and procedures needed to meet new and changing requirements.
-Reviews and analyzes financial reports and accounting data from various systems. Proposes changes to systems operations that improve data reporting requirements.
-Researches information needed to establish new policies, systems, and procedures and/or to make difficult program decisions. Data is obtained from a variety of systems and sources throughout HUD, and from the Department of the Treasury and the Office of Management and Budget.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
Education Requirements:
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Section 8 subsidies to or on behalf of a tenant of property you, your spouse, or a dependent child owns.
The following are exceptions to the Section 8 prohibition:
- The employee, or the employee's spouse or minor child acquires, without specific intent as through inheritance, a property in which a tenant receiving such a subsidy already resides;
- The tenant receiving such a subsidy lived in the rental property before the employee worked for the Department;
- The tenant receiving such a subsidy is a parent, child, grandchild, or sibling of the employee;
- The employee's, or the employee's spouse or minor child's, rental property has an incumbent tenant who has not previously received such a subsidy and becomes the beneficiary thereof; or
- The location of the rental property is in a Presidentially declared emergency or natural disaster area and the employee receives prior written approval from an agency designee.
