As an Attorney Advisor in the Office of the Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate (OPPSA) you will:
Handle a variety of matters involving Title IV of ERISA and other complicated benefits administration and business transactions that affect participants in defined benefit pension plans and sponsors of defined benefit pension plans. Provides authoritative legal advice to the Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate on sensitive legal matters and complex benefits issues involving plan participants and sponsors.
Provide legal advice to the Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate to address issues brought by participants and plan sponsors, including the appropriate steps for resolution of the dispute and/or concern.
Make legal recommendations to the Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate in response to benefit entitlement issues from participants and their advocates and recommends to the Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate options to address plan sponsor/plan advisor issues regarding disputes with PBGC practices, procedures, and interpretations of Title IV under ERlSA and the regulations thereunder.
