    Summary

    The incumbent will be assigned to the Mental Health Care Line in Houston, Texas. The psychiatrist for this position is assigned to the Pain Evaluation Center (PEC). PEC professionals are specialty-trained in treating a variety of complex pain conditions utilizing a biopsychosocial approach.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will join an integrated team consisting of an internist, a physician-assistant, a registered nurse, and three psychologists. The PEC psychiatrist integrates and coordinates care within the primary care setting, conducts comprehensive chronic pain assessment, clarifies somatogenic pain from those with psychogenic pain, evaluates psychiatric comorbidity with chronic pain, and delivers evidence-based psychiatric interventions. The PEC psychiatrist also evaluates opioid use, completes opioid risk assessments, and makes recommendations regarding opioid prescriptions and tapers as it relates to chronic pain conditions.

    Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, may be required to work weekends, evenings or other irregular tours of duty.
