What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
Salary GS-07: $44,767 (Step 01) to $58,196 (Step 10);
Salary GS-09: $54,760 (Step 01) to $71,189 (Step 10);
NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.
There is one vacancy however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.
As a Physical Scientist within the Nevada Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Plan, develop, maintain and document project related digital, spatial databases.
-Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control on databases.
-Development of GIS coverage.
-Serve as a member of a project team.
-Disseminate information in peer-reviewed scientific reports and technical journals.
Occasional travel - Overnight travel of 1-3 nights per month may be required.
