SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary purpose of this position is to supervise employees who install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The supervisor in this career field must also possess the ability to perform on-or-off equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.
- Serves as section supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations.
- Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.
- Supports and explains management programs to subordinates.
- Implements safety regulatory requirements.
- Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected candidate must be assigned to a valid position in the unit of employment, and be assigned militarily in DAFSC 2A375.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification
of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials. Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work. Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes. Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems. Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules. Capabilities included the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements. Experienced in writing performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance. Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques. Work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors. Competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity. Knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints. Experiences involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions. Skilled in applying interview techniques and understanding of body language patterns. Experiences included interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommending selections to higher level supervisors. Skilled in conducting environmental safety requirements and identifying equipment handling concerns that resulted in observed safety and housekeeping practices. Experiences included compliance with wearing the appropriate safety equipment and following pertinent safety precautions. Skilled and knowledgeable of management objectives and programs, that included addressing labor-management relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, internal controls, safety, energy conservation, environmental controls, and property accountability. Skilled in writing and presenting work reports and maintaining accurate records. Experienced in participating in readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Experiences may have included work that involved accident/mishap responses, shift supervision, special project management, heavy equipment operations, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or served as a team member that responded to natural disasters or civil emergencies.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.

l. Temporary Promotion may be extended for an additional two years, not-to-exceed four years, with National Guard Bureau approval.
m. Should the need for temporary time limitations placed on this position no long exist, the Temporary Promotion may be converted to a permanent action without further competition.
n. This temporary limited appointment may be converted to a non-temporary appointment without further competition.

p. This type of appointment is expected to extend beyond one year. Separation will be preceded by a 30-day notice when services are no longer needed. Permanent technicians will remain on permanent status if selected.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - To qualify an enlisted applicant for hire consideration into an ANG Dual Status Technician FWS 2610 position, award of the compatible PAFSC, Craftsman Seven Skill Level, with the position's compatible unit position assignment and a high school diploma, are mandatory requirements. Completion of high school courses in physics, algebra, trigonometry, and computer principles is desirable. Higher academic college courses and degrees that are aligned within the FWS Series 2610 type of work tasks are also desirable. For the WS-13 ANG Dual Status Technician position, the mandatory military education requirement is the award of a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least two military professional education course programs.
You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
- To initially qualify and prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
- To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the capability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 70 pounds.
- To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the physical capability to stand, climb, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and stoop over extended periods of time.
- To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which he or she lives or is principally employed, in accordance with Air Force and Air National Guard Vehicle Operations Directives.
- As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must complete the hazmat certification within six months of employment and complete hazmat recertification every two years.
- As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must maintain the position's mandatory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.
- As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must maintain local network access IAW AFMANs 33-152, User Responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems and 33-282, Computer Security.
- As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee requires routine access to classified Secret material or similar environment. For award and retention of a compatible AFSC, the employee must have a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management. The employee's clearance reinvestigations must be opened prior to the expiration of his or her current investigations.
