The Deputy Administrator is responsible for planning, coordination and direction of all metal and non-metal safety and health activities and develops and recommends safety and health criteria and standards; develops and recommends standards and procedures to be used in inspection and enforcement activities.
The incumbent formulates and develops inspection and enforcement program and policy guidelines and techniques for monitoring and evaluating safety and health mine performance and for preparing analytical and quantitative mine performance evaluation reports; develops criteria and minimum standards to be implemented by mine operators in establishing training programs for inexperienced miners.
Within the parameters of Department of Labor (DOL) policy and programs objectives, the Deputy Administrator exercises decision making authority for new or revised policy directives, inspection and enforcement guidelines and all matters involving internal program plans and program operations where unprecedented policy consideration or political implications are not involved.

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular subject-matter knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform.
