The US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), is seeking an experienced attorney to fill a position in its Office of the Staff Judge Advocate at Fort Belvoir, VA. The vacancy involves the following area of legal practice: Intelligence and National Security Law. This is a Tier 1 position. Salary for Tier 1 positions in Army is normally between $165,842.00 and $174,500.00. Pay is set based on consideration of selectee's current salary and other factors.

Serves as the Special Assistant to the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA), U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), on all intelligence law related matters, activities, and issues. In accordance with the broad guidance and oversight of the INSCOM SJA, provides the INSCOM Commanding General, his staff, and subordinate Major Subordinate Commands (MSCs) with expertise and specialized legal advice in order to enhance the command's ability to accomplish its intelligence and counterintelligence missions. Incumbent is responsible for identifying and evaluating the command's current, pending, and emerging intelligence and counterintelligence issues, trends, and capabilities and analyzing existing and draft authorities to determine if they adequately address the command's requirements or adversely impact the command's missions. Incumbent identifies potential conflicts or shortcomings in existing and proposed authorities and drafts recommended legislation, regulations, or policy guidance in order to enhance the command's capabilities. Incumbent routinely establishes necessary liaison and coordination with the Office of The Judge Advocate General (OTJAG), the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2), appropriate INSCOM staff elements and commands, and representatives of other Intelligence Agencies in order to effectively represent INSCOM's interests. Enhances INSCOM's long-term intelligence capabilities by promoting consistent application of legal authorities to intelligence activities.
