The optometrist works as a member of a multi-specialty health care team to provide high quality eye care to veterans and eligible dependents. The optometrist is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skill in providing appropriate diagnostic, preventative and therapeutic primary eye care. This includes use of topical and oral medications when required and is facile in minor surgical procedures as allowed by the scope of their licensure.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Your Basic Responsibilities will include: Performing full dilated general optometric eye examinations on established or newly consulted patients in the eye clinic with general optometry eye symptoms, signs, or related systemic diseases.
Evaluating, treating, consulting, and ordering diagnostic studies on patients of all ages with ocular and visual disorders including its related structures and visual pathways.
Diagnosing and referring patients with eye disorders and diseases requiring medical and surgical care to ophthalmology in a timely manner.
Fitting contact lenses including specialty lenses.
Interpreting anterior segment and retinal optical coherence tomography, automated visual fields, pachymetry, corneal topography.
The incumbent practices at a high level of autonomy with use of the latest ophthalmic technology in caring for veterans
Work Schedule: The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Schedule will vary based upon assignment.
