    The Office of General Counsel ("OGC") is the Commission's chief legal officer and adviser. Its major functions are representing the Commission in court, and providing legal counsel to the Commission, the operating bureaus and other offices. The Opinions and Analysis unit within the OGC assists the Commission in carrying out its adjudicative functions by monitoring cases before the Commission, providing advice on factual, legal and procedural issues raised by such cases, and drafting opinions and orders for the Commission.

    The Federal Trade Commission Office of General Counsel seeks one or more highly qualified attorneys for its Opinions and Analysis unit. That attorney (or those attorneys) will research issues raised by cases in adjudication, prepare bench and other memoranda for the Commissioners, meet or otherwise communicate with attorney advisors and Commissioners regarding issues raised by cases in adjudication, and draft opinions and orders. The subject matter is broad, including both competition matters (including anticompetitive practices and mergers) and consumer protection matters (including false advertising and unfair or deceptive business practices). Duties also may include counseling the Commission and staff on a variety of legislative, legislative, legal, and policy matters, including antitrust, consumer protection, administrative law, and interpretation of the FTC Act and related statutes.
