    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    The Fee-Basis Psychiatrist will conduct initial psychiatric evaluations, follow-up visits, consultations, group therapy/treatment, medication management and crisis assessment and intervention to Veterans with mood, anxiety, psychotic and other psychiatric disorders at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.

    Responsible for providing psychiatric care in an Urgent Care setting, identifying Veterans' mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs. The Psychiatrist will evaluate Veterans in crisis to determine if acute inpatient psychiatric admission is required, and will perform the necessary processes to admit the Veteran, if indicated. Will perform first or second certifications for involuntary hospitalization, if necessary.

    The treatment provided is in accordance with VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines as measured by the Peer Review Program and the Clinical Reminder reports.

    Work Schedule: Evenings, nights, and weekends. Evening shift: 6:00 PM-7:00 AM. Weekend/Holiday day shift 7:00 AM-6:00 PM. Schedule may vary as deemed necessary to meet the needs of the Veterans and the Medical Center.
