This position is located in Washington, D. C. organizationally within the Dairy Grading Branch. The Grading Branch offers a number of inspection and grading services on a voluntary, user fee basis that help provide the assurance of wholesome and high quality milk and dairy products. Inspection and grading activities are carried out through five major programs that help to improve the quality, manufacture, and distribution of dairy products: (1) Plant inspections and equipment reviews, (2) inspection and grading, (3) dairy products grades and quality approval, (4) resident grading and quality control and (5) export certification of dairy based products. The Dairy Grading Branch participates in international programs and services to assist in the marketing of dairy products worldwide.
Salary Information: First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected.

FOR THE GS-09 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Agriculture, Dairy Science, Business, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy or related fields.
OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
