This position is located at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites operation at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton/Bangor. At the entry level, this position provides assistance to journey level workers in more than one of the skilled trade occupations by performing simple and routine tasks. Ensures security and privacy of all guests is maintained at all times. Performs recurring assignments and follow up on maintenance requests reported by guests, housekeeping or front desk. Incumbent assists in performing work in at least two of the following trades; including plumbing, heating (HVAC), electrical, carpentry, and painting in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures. Maintains work order log and follow up as required. Logs trouble calls with contractor as appropriate.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of National Agency background Check (NACI). This position may be designated as mandatory personnel for inclement weather or in the interest of national security and may be required to report for work when other employees are excused. This position may be required to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Incumbent may be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime as necessary to meet mission requirements. A valid state driver’s license for travel to other facilities may be required. In order to verity fitness for duty a complete physical examination may be required.
Requires general knowledge of the various occupational trades. Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safety is required. Ability to use and maintain the basic tools and equipment pertinent to the various occupations. Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude; demonstrate effective communication skills, professionally interact with guests; answer guest questions concerning hotel facilities; and provide information about local attractions. Must possess basic math and reading skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
