The incumbent serves as an Air Traffic Security Specialist (ATSS) in the System Operations Support Center (SOSC). He/she is directly involved in the day to day operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) and is an independent pod of the Domestic Events Network (DEN). The SOSC is staffed 24/7 /365 under the direction of the Tactical Operations Manager, AJR-24.
Applies experience and expert knowledge of air traffic control procedures and operations in regards to aviation security and national defense issues. Provides support to ensure the NAS operates in a safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of traffic that includes; domestic, military and international air traffic.
Receive, write and publish United States Secret Service (USSS) requests for the issuance of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) for all movements that include the President of the United States of America (POTUS) and Vice President of the United States of America (VPOTUS) travel. Receive, prepare and transmit POTUS, VPOTUS and First Lady of the United States of America (FLOTUS) travel itineraries as received from the White House Military Office (WHMO).
Create and publish all national security event TFRs (99.7), and provide quality control oversight of all other issued TFRs and alerts the author(s) of errors and inconsistencies.Serves as the reviewing authority and final approving officials for the issuance of all national law enforcement TFRs (91.137(A)(l)s. Transmits electronic alerts of highly sensitive TFR/NOTAM to provide operational awareness to AJR-2 management.
Possesses intimate knowledge of all Special Flight Rules Areas (SFRAs), Flight Restricted Zones (FRZ), National Security Areas, Prohibited Airspaces, restricted use Airspaces for the purpose of identifying permissible flight operations and associated airspace waiver requirements. Review and authorize prohibited and restricted use airspace requests received via the Airspace Access Program's (AAP) internet based delivery system.
Receive, review, analyze and approve Special Interest Flight (SIF) routing requests to enter, depart or overfly U.S. territorial airspace. Alerts the AJR-24 manager of any suspicious, unusual SIF requests or activity. Provide the DEN air traffic security coordinators (ATSCs) with SIF information support and suggest courses of action when non-standard activity occurs.

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED experience equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-14/FV-I) in the Federal government or non-Federal equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled.
Qualified applicants must demonstrate experience in a civilian or military air traffic facility that provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations.
