    Loma Linda is located one hour to the east of Los Angeles and one hour west of Palm Springs. Loma Linda has natural beauty and the San Bernardino mountains can be seen from the campus. VALLHCS is a Joint Commission accredited, Referral Level 1b/High Complexity, facility serving Veterans in San Bernardino, Riverside and Inyo Counties (Inland Empire), over 35,000 square miles. The Medical Center is located on 34 acres, and is approximately 0.7 miles from Loma Linda School of Medicine, its affiliate, and Loma Linda University Medical Center.

    Responsibilities

    The VA Loma Linda Health Care System is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Cardiologist to serve on the staff of a very active academic cardiology section comprised of 7 full time and 3 part-time cardiologists, with shared on-call duties. Responsibilities include general cardiology skills such as echocardiography, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, diagnosis and management of general cardiology conditions. Special interest, education and experience in managing advanced heart failure patients is highly desired, including experience in leading a structured multidisciplinary subspecialty heart failure clinic. Other skills in the performance and interpretation of advanced cardiac imaging studies are also highly desired (nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT angiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and transesophageal echocardiography). Other duties include managing patients on the inpatient coronary care unit and outpatient specialty clinics, and performing cardiology consultations in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The Cardiology section is closely affiliated with Loma Linda University School of Medicine, and responsible for fellowship, resident and medical student training. It is expected that the applicant is qualified to be faculty at the affiliated medical school and to participate in supervisory roles in ACGME fellowship and residency programs. Research experience and the ability to attract grant funding is highly desirable.
