The selectee for this position will serve as a Financial Technician Student Trainee in the Pathways Internship Program of the Naval Research Laboratory.
Administrative Support intern positions provide students with realistic exposure to career opportunities, early adaptation to the work environment, and exposure to people, places, and situations that play an important role in the support of the NRL scientists and engineers.
- You will query and manage databases.
- You will assist in developing improvements in procedures.
- You will assist with the installation, setup, and maintenance of computers, printers, scanners, and disk drives.
- You will assist with network system administration.
- You will verify security clearances.
- You will assist with the control and maintenance of classified material records.
- You will assist in develping improvements in procedures to produce more accuate and timely budgets.
- You will reconcile cash receipts, disbursements and journals.
- You will review contract documents for completeness and accuracy.

PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:
Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion, Interns must:
Be a US Citizen
Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and
Perform their job successfully
This position may be non-competitively converted to a position in the Financial Technician 0503 or Financial Management Analyst 0501 series within the NC or NO Career Track at the 01 Pay Band level upon completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher and meeting all regulatory requirements (including qualification requirements), and upon the recommendation of management.
