About the Position: Duty location: You will be working for the Predictive Analytics and Modeling Unit (PAMU) for the US Army Research Institute (ARI) located at Fort Belvoir, VA. PAMU explores and expands the intersection between personnel psychology, data science, and Big Data analytics.Researchers in PAMU apply new statistical approaches to Soldier testing and assessment, career and performance modeling, job analysis, and other personnel topics. Research in PAMU is strongly quantitative in nature, and researchers are expected to develop or apply innovative data analytic approaches to address a variety of talent management challenges in the Army.
Management would prefer experience in behavioral science research (e.g., industrial/organizational psychology, psychometrics, personnel testing, cognitive psychology, or closely related behavioral research science. This includes identifying and describing researchable problems in the concentration areas listed above, developing plans and integrating other personnel into a research team, and preparing a detailed research plan and/or statement of work as required by regulations and policies.
ARI's research develops innovative measures and methods to improve and enhance the Soldier lifecycle and Army talent management. ARI's scientific research encompasses a wide array of topics (e.g., personnel, training, leader development, human resources, human relations) at the individual, unit, and organizational level. ARI provides the Army the behavioral and social science expertise needed to inform human resource policies and strategies, develop fundamental theories, and investigate new domain areas in behavioral and social sciences with high impact on Army issues.

Basic Requirement for a Research Psychologist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major or equivalent in psychology.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: executing and managing research (e.g., identifying and describing researchable problems and research requirements, developing plans and integrating other personnel into a research team, and preparing detailed research plans or statements of work as required by regulations and policies) in relevant areas of the behavioral and social sciences (e.g., personnel, training, leader development, human resources, and human relations). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
