The incumbent serves as a Physical Security Specialist for the Justice Protective Service, Technical Services which is responsible for developing implementing, and maintaining department wide policy and security programs. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
In order to qualify for the Physical Security Specialist, you must meet the requirements as defined for the specific grade level.
For the GS-11, you must possess at least one of the following:
A. Have at least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes managing and determining physical security protective methods; conducting field inspections for mission requirements; maintaining and operating control systems; and updating access reports.
B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in an intelligence related field of study.
C. Have some specialized experience as described in (A.) but less than one year, and I have more than one year but less than three years of education as described in (B.) (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify).
D. My experience and/or education is not reflected in any of the above statements.
For the GS-12, you must possess at least one of the following:
A. Have one year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes recommending and developing physical security guidelines, policies and procedures; reviewing and interpreting and analyzing various security issues; and preparing and reviewing physical security reports and surveys.
B. My experience and/or education is not reflected in any of the above statements.
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for consideration.
