This position starts at a salary of $73,375 (GS-12, Step 1) to $113,428 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $113,428 (GS-13, Step 10). In this position, you will become a member of the Credibility Assessment Division team within the Office of Professional Responsibility performing the below typical work assignments:
-Serving as an investigator, technical advisor and exam conductor in the field of polygraph examinations;
-Preparing comprehensive and timely reports of the outcomes of polygraph examinations; and
-Fostering harmonious working relationships with other federal, state, and local law enforcement, intelligence and/or trade communities.

QualificationsYou qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Preparing subjects for polygraph examinations; and
- Working in a law enforcement environment conducting interviews, examining records or evidence, observing suspects' activities, and assisting in conducting security investigations, and investigating criminal activity.
You qualify for the GS-13 level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Identifying criminal case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of law violations; and
- Preparing subjects for polygraph examinations, and evaluating suitability for testing and analyzing results.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position: Must be a federally certified polygraph examiner who has completed the requirements of the basic federal polygraph training program from the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA) or received certification by its prior official designations as the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (DACA) or Department of Defense Polygraph Institute (DoDPI), and been certified as an active federal polygraph examiner by an authorized federal polygraph or credibility assessment program in accordance with respective agency and federal standards and requirements, or be eligible for admission to the NCCA.

Polygraph Examination: The Investigative Program Specialist (Polygraph Examiner) position is a polygraph-required position. Applicants who have not completed the requirements of the basic federal polygraph training program from the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA) or equivalent will be required attend the NCCA training program. The classes are held in January, April, and August and lasts 3 months. If selected and you require certification, you will be placed in one of these classes after completing all necessary pre-employment requirements and the class you will attend will be based on availability. Your enter on duty date will be contingent on the class you will be attending, entering on duty no sooner than two (2) pay periods prior to the start date of the NCCA class you will be attending.
Candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete a 14 week training program at the National Center for Credibility Assessment located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
In order to attend the National Center for Credibility Assessment you must meet all of the below admission requirements:U.S. Citizenship;
- At least 25 years of age;
- Earned baccalaureate degree from a four-year college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education;
- At least two years investigative experience with a recognized U.S. Government agency or other law enforcement agency; and
- Successful completion of a Psychophysiological of Deception (PDD) examination.
