    About the Position: The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit provides customer-focused, quality inpatient behavioral health services, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach in a safe setting to bring hope and healing to adults with mental illness. The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit is an interdisciplinary service offering treatments designed to alleviate impairment in coping skills, psychological symptoms, social, interpersonal or occupational dysfunction, general substance abuse treatment, and lethality.

    Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, or stooping is required, as well as the ability to lift, push, or pull objects, greater than 50 pounds. This position requires the selected candidate be available to perform rotating shift work.

    • Perform a variety of RN duties to include, providing behavioral health assessment, triage, evaluation, treatment, and disposition of complex psychiatric cases,providing appropriate level or care as necessasry.
    • Apply applicable knowledge in the administration of psychotropic medications and special drugs, including dosage , action, and adverse reactions.
    • Documents patient?s status, in electronic systems, on a continual basis revising plan of care accordingly.
    • Instruct patient and family members regarding the disease process, treatment modalities and diagnostic procedures.
    • Instruct patient and family members on the use of equipment related to disease/care, expected and possible adverse reactions to medications.
    • Respond to escalated situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment as well apply de-escalation techniques as needed.
    • Act as the patient advocate and collaborate with fellow members of Inpatient Psychiatry care team.
    • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with patient health information (PHI) and patient confidentiality.
    • Apply applicable theraputic communication skills regarding de-escalation and substance abuse treatment modalities.
