    The Office of Finance and Accounting (OFA) performs a wide range of financial services and has Departmental-wide responsibilities financial reporting and analysis, payroll, and several other finance, cash management and accounting functions.

    As an Accountant, you will:

    • Recommend, develop, and publish new financial and accounting policies, principles and procedures as well as revise existing guidance.
    • Identify and implement changes to accounting processes and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of current internal controls and financial management practices
    • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements including the coordination and preparation of the annual Agency Financial Report for Office of Finance and Accounting (OFA) and any special managerial reporting as a result of Congressional, central agencies or internal reporting requirements.
    • Research, interpret, analyze and evaluate existing financial data, rules, regulations, and DOE policies to resolve issues and questions raised by the Department’s management, integrated and other contractors, other Federal and oversight organizations, field offices, and representatives from the private sector.
    • Develop, compile, prepare, maintain and track metrics to monitor and assess progress to ensure the OFA maintains an effective and efficient operation that adheres to established performance measures and standards.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Although rare, overnight travel may be required to attend training or conferences.
