The National Gallery of Art serves the United States in a national role by preserving, collecting, exhibiting, and fostering the understanding of works of art at the highest possible museum and scholarly standards. The incumbent:
Is responsible for the day-to-day running of IT. The majority of the Gallery’s IT environment is located on-premise in the Gallery East Building data center. A major project is underway to move many of these systems to an off-premise data center outside the Washington, D.C. area. At that time, the Gallery will operate these relocated systems in a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) arrangement. The Gallery’s Oracle financial management system is hosted at Oracle and close to two dozen cloud based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications are in operation. The roll of TTS-OPS is to manage this diverse and distributed IT environment to ensure the agility, accuracy, access and availability of the Gallery’s operational IT environment:
Physical requirements: The ability to produce superior performance under constant pressure and tight deadlines is essential. There are no unusual physical demands beyond those normally required in a standard information systems environment.
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for GS-2210-15. This requires at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is over 10 years of progressive IT management experience at a similarly complex organization. Ideal candidate shall have at least a Bachelors degree, Master degree preferred in information technology, computer science or engineering.
