    The NRL Radar Division seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Head, Radar Analysis Branch. This is a leadership position requiring in-depth scientific and technical knowledge of radar systems, technologies, techniques, and applications as well as excellent skills in problem solving, communication, business development, and employee development and supervision. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing programs that encompass a wide spectrum of research directed at advanced concepts and technology in radar and related sensors that are applicable to existing and future Navy and Department of Defense systems.

    Duties include the planning and oversight of projects, managing financial and personnel resources, and stimulating and developing new research opportunities in radar technologies as they relate to the basic and applied research efforts of the Branch and consistent with Radar Division objectives. This requires reviewing and evaluating new ideas and concepts, developing and marketing new projects to sponsors, and recruiting and hiring staff to meet mid- and long-term research effort requirements while ensuring that the technical work of the branch is reported in a timely manner and that all branch documentation (reports, proposals, briefs, whitepapers, etc.) is reviewed for accuracy and consistency with program and division goals. These research efforts include target signature prediction and control, ultra-wideband antennas, inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR), automatic target recognition, and applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence.     Responsibilities

    • You will perform program planning, program execution, fiscal management, and personnel supervision within the Branch.
    • You will be responsible for overall program development and provide technical assistance when necessary.
    • You will represent the Branch at the Division level and contribute to the formulation of Division policies and procedures concerning technical, administrative, and personnel matters applicable to the Division as a whole.
    • You will be responsible for formal, informal, oral, and written communication within and outside of the Naval Research Laboratory to other laboratories, sponsors, systems commands, representatives of otehr services, and contractors.
