NTSB: Independently Advancing Transportation Safety
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent U.S. Federal agency responsible for investigating significant accidents in the various modes of transportation-aviation, railroad, highway, marine, and pipeline. This position is located in the Office of Administration, Acquisition and Lease Management Division, AD-20. As a Contract Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for performing assignments in the support of procurement activities, including pre and post award functions, purchase card program, policy development, and other acquisition related activities.

NOTE: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-13. At the GS-12 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level. Basic Requirements for GS-12:
A.) A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field
or
B.) At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
Basic Requirements for GS-13:
A.) Completion of all mandatory training as described in the Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting Program (FAC-C) for progression to GS-13 or higher level contracting positions, including at least 4-years experience in contracting or related positions. At least 1 year of that experience must have been specialized experience at or equivalent to work at the next lower level of the position, and must have provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the work of the position.
