    THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

    This position is part of the TX 149th Fighter Wing, AMX SQ, and is located in San Antonio, Kelly AFB, Texas. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on aircraft ordnance by troubleshooting, installing, removing, testing, inspecting, modifying, repairing to the lowest component level.

    Responsibilities

    As a WG-10 AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC with the Texas Air National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

    • Accomplishes technical order compliance's and modifications of components and systems and complete systems checks for proper operations.
    • Loads, positions, safeties and downloads air munitions, Aircraft Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) and Acceleration Monitor Assembly (AMA) tracking pods using applicable handling, loading and checkout procedures and equipment.
    • Adjusts, inserts and removes cartridges and squibs, associated wing tanks and pylons, centerline pylons and chaff and flare dispensers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    As a WG-08 AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS REPAIRER your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
    • Assignments as described on the above position description are pre-selected for developmental purposes and will range from simpler and more routine task of the trade up to and including, under close supervision, journey level duties. Assignments will be designed to develop journey level trade practices and skills. Work involves troubleshooting, installing, modifying, repairing and adjusting a vareity of ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching equipment.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    As a WG-05 AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS HELPER your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
    • Work is performed under on-the-job training conditions with immediate and continuous supervision by the Shop Supervisor and/or journey mechanic and with detailed explanations of assignments, procedures, and techniques being given routinely. Receives continuous guidance and instruction in the fundamentals of the field and training in the use of tools and materials. Work is checked frequently during progress and upon completion, and advice is given on how to correct or improve work methods. The supervisor or higher graded workers are readily available to resolve problems or answer questions arising during the performance of assigned tasks. When performing routine and repetitive tasks, receives general instructions with assignments and advice concerning anticipated difficulties, with intermittent inspection for compliance with instructions and acceptability of work.
