This senior-level engineering position is in the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) under the Associate Administrator for Research Demonstration and Innovation. Under the administrative direction of an Office Director and the Deputy Associate Administrator, you will provide professional engineering, technical, and management oversight services pertaining to the research, development, demonstration, testing, and deployment associated with public transportation systems. The focus is on systems analysis, design, development, testing, and operational assessment and evaluation of innovative technologies; design, development, implementation, management, and evaluation of FTA research programs and projects; coordination and collaboration with other Federal, State, Regional, and local government efforts, as well as with non-profit and commercial organizations in these areas; and enhancing successful deployment of advanced technologies and effective business practices for public transportation systems through dissemination of information on research program activities and results.
The ideal candidate for this position has experience and skill in applying a wide range of automotive and vehicle engineering practices to include design, materials, and testing in support of improved vehicle durability and overall performance as well as a basic working knowledge of public transportation systems
