The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement, as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD-leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities"). This includes addressing the full spectrum of potential threats through robust prevention, preparedness, detection, and response measures. PFPA uses an integrated approach to perform its critical mission, bringing together functions such as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection and response, law enforcement, physical security, anti-terrorism/force protection, and surveillance detection. PFPA operates in an environment that requires close coordination between multiple local, state and Federal agencies.

PPP PILOT: The Washington Headquarters Service is currently operating under an approved reengineered Priority Placement Program (PPP) pilot for all positions in its serviced workforce.
