    Summary

    The Deputy Chief Ventures Officer (DCVO) directly supports the Chief Ventures Officer in NGA's innovation initiatives with NGA stakeholders, government partners, industry and academia, with a focus on innovation and the incubation and adoption of new ventures that create unique combinations of people, processes, and technologies to sustain NGA's competitive advantage. The DCVO develops, manages, and supports the process of innovation, from sourcing and problem curating n through integration at NGA.     Responsibilities

    The DCVO focuses on external and internal improvement by evaluating needs and capabilities and aligning funding, policy, and planning to develop new technologies and replace outdated capabilities, technologies, and processes. Incumbent will focus on adapting and applying industry best practices within the Agency/IC/DoD context to replace legacy systems and software to meet current and future geospatial mission needs. The incumbent advises on the stand-up and management of NGA's corporate partnership entity (the Public-Private Partnership), to include leveraging expertise in related and supporting industry interests to source new industry partners. DCVO implements NGA's strategic and planning guidance, including cultural transformation, innovation ventures, and acquisition agility policy and processes. The DCVO will manage the day-to-day execution of the Office of Ventures and Innovation with a focus on organizational structure, internal processes, people, and the workforce culture. The incumbent has managerial and oversight responsibilities for the effective use of office staff and resources in meeting organizational goals and objectives. This includes directing the activities of the Office of Ventures and Innovation (OVI), assessing the needs and trends in innovation and entrepreneurship, developing internal, inter-governmental, and external partnerships, implementing overall strategic planning, and policy setting. Supervises OVI division leadership and administrative and support personnel, and works alongside Deputy Component Acquisition Executive to ensure the full scope of NGA's innovation and acquisition activities are meeting organizational goals. Determines funding requirements, prepares and justifies budget estimates, balances program needs, allocates resources, oversees the evaluation of proposals and recommendations for awards and declinations, and represents OVI and NGA to relevant external groups.
