As a Engineering Technician (Electrical), you will be serving in a Power Generation Plant which operates and performs technical support and maintenance of the operation of back-up power and cooling plants and their distribution systems. This position is located in the National Capital Region, Public Building Services, Facilities Program Division Support, Washington, D.C. This office is responsible for providing facilities related solutions and services to Federal tenants located in over 8500 owned and leased workspaces across the nation.

As a Engineering Technician (Electrical), you will perform the following duties:
The incumbent performs trouble shooting and repair of controls, instrumentation, monitoring devices, distributive control systems and other electrical/electronic equipment within the power plant. Actively engages in overall system daily and special operations and start-up and tests for new systems and equipment to ensure manufacturer recommendations are followed. Operates cogeneration, electrical, sub-systems and emergency distribution systems of 24/7 back-up power and heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally compliant manner. Complies with occupational safety and health standards and site security requirements. Reports information on occupational safety and health issues. Makes detailed sketches and working drawings of improvement projects to be accomplished either by contract or by mechanical forces. Prepares statements of work for the Contract Specialist’s use when detailed engineering specifications are required. Prepares specifications, drawings, and cost estimates. Reviews contractor proposals and participates in contract negotiations. Communicates with customers regularly, effectively, and proactively to ensure end product/service meets customer’s expectations. Effectively responds to customer inquiries and resolves customer complaints. Collaborates with customers to understand their requirements, and be easily accessible to customers. Works to improve customer satisfaction, as measured by national/regional measurement tools.
