The NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) facility (Code 180) is seeking a skilled individual to join the Cybersecurity team within the Safety and Mission Assurance Support Office (SSO). The SSO Cyber team leads an agency effort to protect and enhance the resilience of the NASA missions. You will provide expertise in Mission System cybersecurity in order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data and IT assets, and provide secure solutions to meet complex problems.

As an Information Technology Specialist (Security), you will address complex cybersecurity issues for Agency mission systems (including IT, Flight and Ground) with national impact.
Provide technical leadership for implementation of cybersecurity programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities, such as intrusion detection or access authentication programs. Coordinate the implementation of cybersecurity programs across platforms, and establish vulnerability reporting criteria. Plan and conduct multi-layer vulnerability assessments.
Conduct special cybersecurity studies, surveys, or reviews of IT systems to ensure appropriate safeguards exist to protect against perceived threats.
Provide authoritative project planning guidance related to the Agency's IT security program. Develop long-range plans for security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with systems vulnerabilities and system exploitations.
Provide guidance, advice, and counsel while leading group of highly specialized security analyst and technicians providing strategic direction for the application of security controls in highly specialized environments and in the planning, coordination, and development of specifications to meet security requirements.
Provide expert risk management in defining, communicating, mitigating cyber security risks for a Mission. Provide excellent communication across multiple organizational boundaries of Mission level risk and potential mitigations.
Apply system cybersecurity expertise in the following areas: system security design process; engineering life cycle; identification; authentication; authorization; system integration; risk management; intrusion detection; contingency planning; incident handling; configuration control; change management; and security testing.
Provide cybersecurity project management defining scope, schedule, cost, objectives and goals of the project in collaboration with Mission, Office, Management and Agency stakeholders.
