The Supervisory Program Specialist provides technical and administrative supervision to a unit of ten (10) Program Support Assistants (Repair Services Technicians - GS-0303-06/07) in the DLC Hearing Aid Repair Lab (LAB). The incumbent directs the daily operation of the LAB to include delegating day-to-day assignments of work, resolution of problems, instructing staff on new processes and systems, and overseeing day-to-day workflow and timeliness. The incumbent develops performance standards and evaluates the work performance of subordinates. The incumbent works independently, planning, directing and administering the DLC hearing aid repair program nationally for all hearing devices purchased by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Evaluates and develops divisional operating procedures and conducts studies to improve record keeping, records management, and other direct program administration concerns. Develops new processes and procedures in testing hearing aids based on changing requirements with the DLC. Coordinates the Lab's efforts with VHA Audiology Clinics and commercial repair facilities to ensure policies and procedures meet or exceed national and industry standards. Maintains an accurate current knowledge of existing repair procedures, new hearing aid technical specifications, advancements in the hearing aid trade, procedures, hearing aid vendor repair contracts, factory repair quality standards, and Veteran verification/authorization criteria in order to assist and answer questions from employees regarding these and other associated operational areas.
