    About the Position: This position is a supervisory and clinical nurse position located at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Director for Surgery, Department of Perioperative Nursing, Ambulatory Procedures Unit (APU), responsible to providing care, treatment, and teaching to preoperative and infusion patients and families, infant through geriatric. The Ambulatory Procedures Unit is a 23-bed multidisciplinary unit supporting 10 operating rooms and a preoperative assessment unit, pre-operative hold unit, and ambulatory infusion unit.

    • As a Supervisory Clinical Nurse, you will apply a wide range of professional nursing theories, principles, and procedures in performance of duties.
    • You will plan, provide, oversee, administer, and document professional patient care in accordance with nursing standards of practice.
    • Interpret and ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care and practice.
    • Monitor safety hazards, ensuring immediate action is taken to resolve or correct potential concerns.
    • Interpret findings, and report to the Licensed Independent Provider (LIP), those findings which indicate a detrimental variation in the progress of the patient.
    • Partner with the interdisciplinary team to develop strategies to improve patient care services.
    • Plan/assign work to be accomplished by subordinates, evaluate work performance of subordinates and give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
