This is a complex, demanding position, whose work involves a variety of clinic/unit receptionist and clerical procedures pertinent to provisions of medical and nursing care in the inpatient or outpatient setting (i.e., monitoring, scheduling and rescheduling patients for treatment, interviewing patients for appointments, referring and coordinating patient moves to other medical specialty clinics/units, initiating, assembling, and filing medical records, and providing information necessary to resolve complaints).
These include, but are not limited to, providing initial contact with all health care providers and patients on the unit/clinic, the recording and reporting of patient information, relaying of calls and information requiring immediate attention of the staff, monitoring and scheduling appointments and recording workload, insuring the administrative maintenance and completeness of all medical documentation, records and reports and resolving informal complaints.
