The National Gallery of Art is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Operations and Maintenance Department to support the Gallery's computerized Building Automation System. The incumbent performs technical duties requiring practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer engineering principles as they relate to the control of Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Advanced knowledge of electric Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC control is required. Advanced knowledge of computer software application development using the Tridium Niagara Framework platform is also required, as is a practical knowledge of computer network principles.
The applicant will utilize their knowledge to analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions in order to troubleshoot, repair and modify complex HVAC control systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: developing and implementing software for control of HVAC systems, modifying existing DDC control software, troubleshooting network communication errors, faulty sensor and field wiring issues.
The incumbent will:
- Calibrates field instrumentation to restore manufacturer's stated accuracy.
- Troubleshoots electronic and pneumatic control systems and components using software-based programming tools, electric multi-meters, and other common hand held calibration and testing devices used in HVAC field.
- Programs, edits and implements software control strategies in DDC controller hardware using Tridium Niagara AX Workbench programming tool for Tridium JACE controllers.
- Reports on progress of technical assignments to management.
