Major Duties and Responsibilities
Provides assistance in the oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of facilities and equipment.
Assists in the programming, planning, and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities. Works with assigned personnel to ensure that facilities are maintained in the proper state of cleanliness both inside and out and assists in preparing areas for scheduled events.
Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures and may assist assigned personnel in the monitoring of change funds, theater tickets, etc. May operate a cash register, receive payments and make change.
May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical and/or general maintenance duties as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Factor 1: Knowledge required
Must be able to learn FRP/MWR/CYP policies, rules and regulations involving work areas, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Knowledge of basic mathematics and the purpose of recreational equipment and activities is desired.
Incumbents assigned to the aquatics areas are required to be certified as a lifeguard and must have basic First Aid and CPR certification.
Factor 2. Supervisory Controls
May be assigned to varied departments. While assigned to different departments, work assignments are received and work is reviewed by the supervisor. Performs routine tasks independently. New tasks are performed with supervisory assistance. Department supervisors are available to provide assistance and guidance.

Specific guidelines and instructions exist. Instructions and procedures used by the incumbent cover most functions. Duties that require deviation or judgment as to which procedure to follow are referred to the supervisor.

The work consists of well-structured and related steps, processes and procedures. Actions to be taken are of a routine nature within recreation programs.
Factor 5. Scope and Effect
The purpose of the position involves the execution of assigned social and recreational programs in accordance with specific guidelines and instructions.

Contacts are made for the purpose of receiving instructions and providing information and support to MWR patrons.

Factor 8. Physical Demands
Must be physically able to stand, bend, or walk in the performance of work. Light lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
Factor 9. Work Environment
Work is usually performed in recreational areas such as the youth center, bowling center, arts and crafts shops, community recreation centers, or other areas of MWR/CYP. There may be some exposure to weather elements. Work in some departments will be in an office setting.
Conditions of Employment:
Position is subject to special inoculation and immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children. Employee is required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases in accordance with recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which includes the influenza vaccine.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.
Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with PL 101-647 to include Installation Record Check.
Preferred Qualifications or Competencies:
Incumbent must meet the minimum age requirement for the local geographic area where the position is to be filled.
