The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Podiatrist for a position in the Podiatric Surgery Section, Surgical Service. This position functions as a staff Podiatrist who maintains professional, technical and administrative knowledge, competencies and skills to provide effective care and timely, quality responses to patients' clinical needs and problems in both the clinic and operating room settings. The Podiatrist works under the supervision of the Chief of Surgery.

The role of the Podiatrist in the position will have 100% of duties with Podiatry clinic. The podiatrist will evaluate all patient referrals clinic for all forefoot and rear-foot pathologies. Diagnose and treat with follow-up as indicated by the guidelines of the Podiatry Clinic. Participates in a team approach to patient care with medical staff, ancillary staff, residents, students, other services, patient and family members. Performs surgical correction of forefoot, rear-foot and ankle deformities as needed and indicated. This is to include evaluation of in-patients from referral and on Podiatry Service. Take call as indicated by Podiatry clinic guidelines. Act in adherence to the ethical principle of a Podiatrist and the medical profession as a whole. Appropriately assist with residency training program. Appropriately assist with other documentation standards as set forth by the VAMC including but not limited to patient encounters, clinical notes, (exams, assessment and treatment documentation), other performance standards. Function as a department resource while promoting team's functions. Manages new patient consults for rear-foot and ankle. Incumbent will assist with the residency program, administrative functions, along with other duties as assigned by the Chief of Podiatry
