    The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is a CALEA nationally-accredited, federal law enforcement agency. The USCP safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

    This position is located in the Workforce Relations Division, Office of Human Resources, Office of Administration. The Workforce Relations Division is responsible for providing advice, guidance, and administration of various labor-management, employee relations, conduct, performance management and work life programs. This position serves as Human Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits) for the USCP Workers' Compensation Program for both sworn and civilian employees.

    Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical services, support, and assistance relative to workers compensation. Incumbent provides technical guidance and counseling to supervisors and employees regarding the considerations and procedures involved in reporting job related injuries/illnesses and the processing of compensation claims.

    Specific duties of the incumbent include providing advisory services on processes related matters of the USCP Workers' Compensation program, which implements the Federal Employee Compensation Act, communicating with the Department of Labor, Office of Workers' Compensation Programs on FECA matters, and providing advice and assistance on all aspects of Workers' Compensation benefits to employees who have experienced injuries or diseases sustained in the performance of duty, and their supervisors.

    Incumbent develops and conducts supervisory training and develops local procedures to implement new policies. Disseminates FECA information and materials to the workforce.
