    About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate for Behavioral Health, Addictions Treatment at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. This work requires physical exertion in movement of recreation supplies, as well as physical stamina, dexterity, flexibility and physical motivation in order to participate in recreational therapy with the patients. This work will require intermittent driving, standing, and walking. This position will require both weekends and evening shifts.

    • Provide the full provision of specialized therapeutic recreational services, activities and interventions to maintain or enhance the physical and/or mental health of patients suffering with complex behavioral health conditions.
    • Coordinate all therapeutic recreation services for patients receiving individual and/or group treatment at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.
    • Participate as a member of the treatment team, recommending new motivational strategies to enhance patient participation, despite multiple physical and mental disabilities.
    • Contribute information and makes recommendations for modifications and/or changes in the treatment plan.
    • Independently plan, design, implement, and administer the Community Reintegration Program.
    • Responsible for planning and executing necessary program budget for all events related to community re-integration and therapeutic recreation.
    • Serve as preceptor for civilian Therapeutic Recreation (TR) students during clinical internships.

    25% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.
