    Summary

    This position is located in the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), Climate Prediction Center (CPC), Operational Prediction Branch and is for two vacancies located in College Park, MD.

    Responsibilities

    As a Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Responsible to prepare and disseminate operational climate forecasts to the public and special user sectors within and outside of NOAA.
    • Perform programming tasks to maintain, enhance and at times migrate to new computing platforms critical climate observation and forecast datasets and other information.
    • Conduct developmental research specifically directed towards improving current or developing new operational climate outlooks utilizing global datasets processed on high performance computing systems.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - 5% of domestic travel may be required.
