OWCP administers four major disability compensation programs for workers who become ill or are injured on the job including the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA), the Black Lung Benefits Act, the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation act, and the Energy Employees Occupational Illness and Compensation Program Act.

The incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:
- Conducts expert research on economic trends and other indicators that may impact OWCP's execution of its mission. This involves compiling, reviewing and editing up-to-date Office of Management and Budget data on the U.S. economy, workers' compensation data and trend information, and technical information from a variety of other sources.
- Provides expert technical advice and assistance to program leadership and DFA staff on data compilation and analytical methodologies.
- Develops, coordinates and executes data modeling for one or more of OWCP's programs to enhance the efficiency of OWCP activities.
- Identifies and resolves actual and potential problems concerning data modeling and liability. Develops and monitors action plans to resolve critical problems.
- Prepares portions of the Statement of Social Insurance and/or related components of financial statements.
- Maintains information files and records of data research and recommendations.
- Represents DFA leadership in planning meetings with senior executive level program leadership and serves as subject matter expert; participates in OWCP policy working groups as the primary economist.
