The Office of the Chief Information Officer provides leadership and oversight of DOJ's information and information technology (IT) programs and services through department-wide IT policies, strategic plans, and the development and procurement of enterprise IT services. The Deputy Assistant Attorney General/Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for all IT acquisitions across the Department, provides guidance to the IT budget requests of the Department's Components. The CIO is also tasked with ensuring the security and reliability of DOJ systems and information.

As the Deputy, Chief Information Officer, the incumbent serves as the primary internal consultant responsible for all mission and functions assigned. Oversees all mission and functional activities required to support the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). Responsible for the day-to-day operations which include the planning, policy formulation, direction and coordination of mission activities, directing of technology and business process integration in the development programs and a comprehensive integrated approach to the implementation of hardware, software, security, and related policies and processes to support information technology across the DOJ.
The incumbent plans and directs programs, and provides supervision and technical guidance to integrate capability and Information technology portfolio management and horizontal business process integration in support of the DOJ, Justice Management Division (JMD) and all DOJ components. Orchestrates the development, coordination, programming, budget and implementation of the IT investment program, capability, and IT portfolio management. Provides policy, leadership, and direction to the OCIO organization, ensuring that all missions and functions are integrated, prioritized and -executed within the framework of the OCIO strategic plan, priorities and allocated resources, and that OCIO performance is evaluated and results in performance improvement. Exercises full range of supervisory management and authority in directing a staff of federal and contractor personnel.
