This position is located in the Surface Transportation Board's Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA). OEA is responsible for ensuring the agency's compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and related environmental laws and implementing regulations, including the Board's environmental rules. In this position, you will:
-Assist in ensuring that the agency complies with the Section 106 process, among others, required by the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the regulations of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) implementing NHPA.
-Serve as a historic preservation advisor for OEA.
-Prepare environmental and historic documentation, coordinate with government agencies, members of the public, environmental and historic organizations, federally-recognized tribes, and railroad applicants.
-Serve as a team member on environmental assessments and impact statements required by NEPA for cases before the Surface Transportation Board.
-You must be a U.S. citizen.
-You must be able to pass a background investigation.
-You may be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.
-You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date.
-Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade).
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
