The Medical Center Director positions are located in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
VHA is home to the United States' largest integrated health care system, consisting of 150 medical centers, -1,400 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics, Community Living Centers, Vet Centers and Domiciliaries. Together, these health care facilities and the more than 53,000 independent licensed health care practitioners who work within them, provide comprehensive care to more than 8.3 million Veterans each year.
VHA Medical Centers provide a wide range of services including traditional hospital-based services such as surgery, critical care, mental health, orthopedics, pharmacy, radiology, and physical therapy. In addition, most of our medical centers offer additional medical and surgical specialty services including audiology & speech pathology, dermatology, dental geriatrics, neurology, oncology, podiatry, prosthetics, urology, and vision care. Some medical centers also offer advanced services such as organ transplants and plastic surgery.
The VA structures its SES positions into three pay bands. Salary caps for each band are: Pay Band 1-$174,500; Pay Band 2- $183,200, and Pay Band 3- $189,600. Exception to the cap for Pay Bands 2 and 3 MAY be made in certain circumstances.
Pay is commensurate with the candidate's experience and the hospital complexity level. VHA operates healthcare facilities across the country that range from small facilities in rural areas to large tertiary hospitals in urban areas with robust teaching and research programs.
Highly complex Medical Centers (level 1A facilities) are eligible for Critical Pay, extending the salary range up to $199,080. Critical Pay eligible locations included in this announcement are: Miami, FL, & Washington, DC.
